Italian Renaissance - Falling Water

Located in the gated enclave of Kings Lake in Mckinney, Texas, just across from the Adriatica Village development, this estate home is the epitome of the typically grand manor of another era.  A formal Italian Renaissance styled home, it has all the refined hallmarks of an historical classical home, from the Tuscan order classical detailing to the pedimented stone gables.

The grounds boast a circular motor court in the front and a terraced rear yard stepping down to the water’s edge.  The upper terrace features formal gardens complete with a marble fountain, while the middle terrace draws you in with the pool, spa, putting green and play area.  The intermediate terrace boasts a fire pit, perfect for evenings by the lake,  The lowest bottom terrace level is a golf lover’s paradise.  Reminiscent of Augusta’s Amen corner, there are ample holes for practicing your chip and swing at the lake’s edge.

While it may be a refined classical architectural style on the exterior the interiors were designed with an attention to more modern tastes.  The home features a wine cellar, 50’s styled Game room with arcades and duck ball bowling, and a stellar media room.

One of our favorite custom features of this home is the dressing room.  No longer just a “closet” this living space is situated between the principal bedroom and the main bath.  The clothes are hidden away behind what appears to be paneled walls, leaving the room to feel more like a living space with beautiful display space and light flooding in from both the front windows and the rear French doors leading to the second floor of the Cabana.

The other phenomenal feature is the faux Greek temple styled 2 story cabana complete with spa, massage room, infrared sauna, exercise, and pool side bar and fireplace on the first floor.  The second floor boasts breathtaking views of the water, and features a lounge with billiards, bar, and a golf simulator.  An avid golfer, the owner has access to this area from the primary bedroom suite.  While enjoying this space guests and family alike get to experience some of the best views in the city from the second-floor balconies looking towards the west.
